These days: 2010

I've created a You Tube channel: www.youtube.com/loriescape. Just making some silly animations for my own entertainment. I used to do this as a kid with a big non-digital video camera on a huge tripod rig that had a setting for interval, but now I'm just using a little fuzzy webcam. It does it's purpose. And it's fun. Enjoy.

Upcoming news: soon I will have an online store. Stay tuned.

Little Model Head

This weekend I made a little model to paint from, with Sculpey. It is about 3 inches tall. And here it is. I think it's kind of cool. John said it looked a little creepy though. But I have a soft spot for my creations.

What happened to summer?

Summer sure blew by! It's still hot, but it's now fall. Which means it's time to gear up and paint again! I got a canvas from the Chico Art Center to submit to their Small World, 1st Annual Small Works Multi-city Exhibition 2009 upcoming in November. Here are some details:
  • Exhibition Dates: November 7-November 29, 2009
    Reception: Saturday, November 7, 7-9PM

Photos from Iron and Art Show

The wall with my art, collaboration. It wasn't able to be hung, unfortunately.

Me and my art! (still available)

The front room with the other artists in the group show.

Mat Held and I collaborated on the big piece which included a girls face, tree, owl, robots, city scape, clouds and lightning, snake, and a moon. Micah, the owner of the gym is interested in keeping it at his gym. Size approx: 3.5'x6'. I painted two smaller pieces of girls with flowing hair in acrylic. different than ink! that's for sure.

Saturday May 16th

Another show in one week! What am I? Wonder Woman? Guess so! Show is at Alpha Gym out on 2954 HWY 32. A little far out, but should be a good show. Starts at 7pm, with music, wine and art! I have done some acrylic paintings and a collab with a friend, Mat Held. I know, no ink and paper? what? I love good ol color and the fun of massive layers of paint. You're in for a treat.

Cafe Coda, Thursday May 14th- 8pm

Doing a group show with Daniel Vera and Ellen Akimoto at Cafe Coda here in Chico. Show is Thursday May 14th, 8pm. (yes, tomorrow) Live music and art. Cover charge will go to purchasing books for kids. Show will be up um...for a while. Go check it out.

Finally February Show Art Posted!

Why did it take so long? But I have finally posted the art that was sold (or not) from my February Show. Go Here to have a look-see. It only took a month of avoiding my slow computer, before I cracked down and made the effort. Perhaps a couple more painting sales could help me purchase a new computer? I'll have to get painting again!
News this month: I'm featured in the CN&R as the artist for the cover series of the Cammies- Chico Area Music Awards. All five covers come together as a complete poster at the end. I'll post once I have those images.
Also, I'm conquering my Great List of friends and acquaintances who want art from me. My goal is set for Mid to the end of Summer to finish the List. Number one (and most important!) is my dear Stacey P. who has been waiting ever so patiently for those cute illustrations for her book. THAT, will be first and foremost.
I will post news as I go.
Thanks for stopping by,
LORI
